Central Yorkshire Scouts provide fun and friendship, challenge and everyday adventure to over 6500 young people in Leeds and Wakefield, that’s boys and girls age 6 to 25 from all cultures and backgrounds.
We are a part of a global Scout movement with 30 million members in 216 different countries. In Leeds and Wakefield our young members are supported by 1500 adult volunteers working in 98 individual Scout Groups bought together into 8 administrative Districts.
Scouting is all about learning whilst having fun and offers over 200 different activities. Young people are encouraged to stretch themselves, do their best, discover new talents and reach their potential. This may be during a weekly meeting participating in a challenging activity, discussing individual rights, looking at healthy lifestyles or working in the community or it could be during one of the over 25000 night’s away adventures our Scouts enjoy every year.
Scouting’s approach is informal, youth-Shaped and sociable; it is an enjoyable hobby and a social life with a purpose. Central Yorkshire Scouts help young people and adults in Leeds and Wakefield get to know new people, work well together and develop positive meaningful friendships.
