Hello From Nikki

From the Marketing and Communications Team at Gilwell Park

A note from Nikki,

I am writing to both introduce myself as the (nearly) new Partnership Manager for The Scout Association  and to ask for your invaluable support.

Further to conversations with many of you,  it has come to my attention that commercial partnership fundraising on a local level can be extremely time consuming, sometimes   demoralising and often unsuccessful. However, from a head office, and therefore national, perspective, it can be more beneficial to offer companies an opportunity on a much larger scale, which has more impact and therefore is potentially more valuable.

I am currently asking companies to support us and our 2007 centenary celebrations, which is a real opportunity to “Shout about Scouting” and generate a massive amount of positive PR about the Movement and the good work it does.

However, the small problem I have is that we  have a very small team (two of us) and thousands of potential commercial partners out there; contacting them all before 2007 is impossible.

I am therefore asking for your help in getting the message out to the commercial world: that Scouting is a charity and is a charity deserving

of commercial support. If you work for a company that you feel could support us at a national level, I would be grateful if you could speak with the relevant people within your organisation. We would be delighted to supply information to help your case and even more delighted if you  could arrange a meeting for me to come in and speak with the relevant people. I can then let them know exactly how they can benefit from partnership with the largest co-educational

youth movement in the UK.

To thank you for your support, I will make sure that your own Section/Group/District or County is rewarded with a 5% payback of any from the meeting you set up. For example,  £200K is a realistic value for any company looking  to support The World Scout Jamboree where they would reach 28 million Scouts globally, 40,000 Scouts directly and an additional 300 million people through PR and marketing initiatives.

That’s a £10K payment back to you!

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind regards

Nikki Mason
