The 2005 Royal Yachting Association Community Awards
The RYA Community Awards provide you with an ideal opportunity to
recognise the exceptional voluntary contribution given by individuals at
grassroots level within Sail sports.
The RYA are currently looking for nominations for this year's Awards.
This year there are three categories of award that volunteers can be nominated for:
Lifetime Commitment, Outstanding Contribution, and Youth.

The Big Kickabout update
Steve Perry, frontman from Uniting Nations, has confirmed
he will be playing his recent top 10 hit, ‘Out of Touch’,
as well as his new single at The Big Kickabout. A host of
other famous faces are lining up to join him on the day,
A new section, Fun Stuff, has also been added to
www.scouts.org.uk/bigkickabout You can order trendy Kickabout
badges and wrist bands as well as test your hand to eye co-ordination
with the Penalty Shootout Game.

Manager for QPR’s Loftus Road Stadium, has also sent this
message of support: “The Big Kickabout is something I am
wholeheartedly backing. As I have had the inside track of the
acts and seen the hard work that has gone into the day, I know
that it is an event that no one in my District will want to miss out on.
Celebrities are signing up on a weekly basis and

Development Points

British Regional Youth Climbing Series
The BRYCS - British Regional Youth Climbing Series - has been running for 7
years and always attracts plenty of youngsters. This year we are hoping
it'll be more popular than ever.
Three regional rounds will take place at indoor climbing walls around the
country on April 16th, 23rd and 30th, with the national final at the Westway
Climbing Wall in London on July 16th. Full details (including application

The regional rounds cost from £3 (unwaged) each, and the final is free!

The BRYCS will be of interest to any Scouts who have tried rock climbing,
though they are not suitable for absolute beginners. They provide an
excellent forum for kids to safely take part and compete in a fast growing,
exciting, and really rewarding activity. The British Mountaineering Council
have achieved the preliminary standard in safeguarding and protecting
children in sport, awarded by the Child Protection in Sport unit. |
