County Commissioners Challenge

County Commissioners Challenge.

2007 represents a unique time for The Scout Association to raise its profile, provide opportunities for development and adventure for its membership.

Central Yorkshire Scout County will, together with Districts, provide events and activities for all our 6yrs to 25yrs membership to engage in.

Whilst we share in this adventure it is important that we consider and support young people who may not be as fortunate as ours.

Central Yorkshire Scout County has agreed to support the Candlelighters Trust and Martin House Hospice during 2007.

Both of these charities provide care for young people suffering from cancer and leukaemia and need our support to continue funding that provision.

In March 2007 I am competing in the Marathon des Sables. It is a 150 mile 7 day footrace across the Sahara Desert carrying food and equipment. Average temperatures are 40c.

It is reputed to be the toughest footrace on planet Earth.

I am running this race to raise funds for the two charities, as your County Commissioner.

If each member of the County gave £1.00 we could raise almost £6000. It would be fantastic to present this amount to the charities at our Centenary Camp. Perhaps we could raise £10 000? That is my challenge.

There are a number of ways you can help: I have enclosed a sponsor form and flyer for you to display and hopefully fill. You can contact me directly or encourage on-line (and safe) donation at:

So, let us have a fabulous Centenary Year, but also think of others and do our good turn.

Ian.
