1st Muslim Scout Group Launches

Leeds Scouts are delighted to announce the launch of the first Muslim Scout Group in Leeds.
Tonight, at Leeds Grand Mosque, a group of young people will be “Invested” into the new Scout Group which will be based at the mosque in Burley.
Richard Frank, who will be performing the ceremony, is the Scout Leader at the neighbouring Scout Group (St Marys) who are working in partnership with Muslim community leaders to foster the group.
The Head Scout for the areas of Leeds and Wakefield, County Commissioner, Ian Chappell, said: “There are 4 million muslim scouts across the world and 28 million Scouts worldwide. It’s wonderful that Leeds Grand Mosque want to join with us in providing exciting, adventurous and fun activities for young people.”
