Training Opportunities: 2010

All Adult Leaders can complete Woodbadge Training, whether or not their role requires it –i.e. a Section Assistant (Colony/Pack/Troop Assistant) only need to complete Modules 1 and 3 but they may complete all the Training required of a Section Leader/Assistant Leader, if they so wish.

Adult Training in Central Yorkshire is fun, flexible to the point of being ‘bendy’ and offered in a variety of ways to suit all needs and the pressures of the Adults’ family and working life.

Below, are a few choices you can make to further your Training in 2010 – but remember, you have three years in which to complete a Woodbadge once you have completed your Getting Started Modules, so there is no rush! Leaders who are new to their role should complete Modules 1-7 before they apply for the completion Course and have at least 12 months experience in the role.

March 6th – First Response (Module 10)                     John Briggs Centre, Bramhope.

March 7th – Ongoing Learning                                  John Briggs Centre, Bramhope.

May 8th    - Ongoing Learning                                   John Briggs Centre, Bramhope.

May 9th    - First Response                                         John Briggs Centre, Bramhope

First Response Course (which is obligatory for all Section Leaders in Scouting) last 6 hours and the Certificate must be renewed every three years.

On-going Learning – again, every Adult is expected to complete 5 hours On-going learning every 12 months. The content of these Courses is up to you – tell your LTM or TA what you would like to achieve!

These Courses are non-residential.

May 14 –16th – Section Leaders Module Completion Course – Aldwark

May 14 – 16th – Nights Away Course                                        - Aldwark

These two Courses will run parallel and start on Friday evening so that any leader who wishes to take advantage of a canoeing opportunity on Saturday afternoon or Sunday, can do so.

Just imagine the fun-time which can be had when in excess of 36 leaders from the County get together for a weekend – and no KIDS!

October 16 – 17th - Section Leaders Module Completion Course - Bramhope

Module completion Courses cover Modules 8,9,11,12,13,14,15,17, & 19

The above three Courses are residential.

All residential Courses charge a fee of £25 per head to cover the cost of the food. Your Group should be able to reimburse this and any out-of-pocket travelling expenses.

Applications for ALL Courses should be sent to the County Training Administrator –

Mick Greenwood, 11, Topcliffe Court, Wide Lane, Morley. LS27 8UG.

If you would prefer to apply online, e-mail Mick at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

and ask for an on-line form.

Central Yorkshire Courses (especially the residential ones) are extremely popular and book up very quickly (we get applications from other counties), so if you want a place, apply early, log the date in your diary (the Course Director will contact you within 4 weeks of the Course date).

If you have any queries about Training, contact your Local Training Manager or the County Training Manager  - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it 0113 2527677

Thank you for taking the time to do your training and in so doing, helping to provide better Scouting for the young people in Central Yorkshire.
