Skills for Life

Central Yorkshire Scouts deliver fun, challenge, adventure and friendship to over 7,000 young people – All made possible by 2,500 amazing adult volunteers who support our young people to shape and deliver their adventures.

Welcome to Central Yorkshire

Central Yorkshire Scouts provide fun and friendship, challenge and everyday adventure to over 7,000 young people in Leeds and Wakefield, that’s boys and girls aged 4 to 25 from all cultures and backgrounds.

Scouting is all about learning whilst having fun and offers over 200 different activities. Young people are encouraged to stretch themselves, do their best, discover new talents and reach their potential. This may be during a weekly meeting participating in a challenging activity, discussing individual rights, investigating healthy lifestyles or working in the community or it could be during one of the over 26,000 night’s away adventures our Scouts enjoy every year.

Scouting’s approach is informal, youth-shaped and sociable; it is an enjoyable hobby and a social life with a purpose. Central Yorkshire Scouts help young people and adults in Leeds and Wakefield get to know new people, work well together and develop positive meaningful friendships.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
