Event organisers – If you or your team are involved in organising any future Scout events, you will now need to review these plans and risk assessments given this new guidance. If you have event insurance through Unity, they have provided an update here.
European Jamboree – The organisers of the European Jamboree in Poland have shared this update.
Morocco Expedition – The County Expedition to Morocco in July/August has now been postponed to 2021. Please see the latest information here.
Travel insurance – The Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation may have implications for your travel insurance. Check with your insurers directly about the levels of cover. If you have taken insurance through Unity, they have provided an update here.

Executive Committee (Trustee) Updates

Guidance to help with running your charity during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Property owners – If your Group gets an income or rent from others using your building and you have property and equipment insurance through Unity you can read their blog for more information.

Annual Returns – Any charity that needs an extension to their annual return deadline can contact the Charity Commission to ask for one. Please see their guidance here.
The Government also have some practical advice for in answer to questions from Executive Committees.

Bramhope & Aldwark Activity Centres

In line with all Scouting, both Bramhope and Aldwark Activity Centres are currently closed. Booking parties affected by the closure will be contacted directly. We can assure all booking parties who have paid deposits that they will not be lose any of these monies. We would be pleased if you could carry your deposits forward to a future booking rather than asking for refunds. When Scouting does recommence we would hope to start welcoming groups within the next 6 weeks. As the time comes closer, more information will be provided as to the re-opening.

HQ/Scout Information Centre/Safeguarding

The Scout Information Centre will only be able to deal with emails and web chat until further notice. As you can imagine, they are experiencing an unprecedented level of enquiries at the moment, so please use the Government guidance as your primary reference where possible.

If you need to contact the Safeguarding team about an ongoing case please email safeguarding@scouts.org.uk. To report a new case please call 020 8433 7164. For guidance on carrying out safeguarding processes in the current climate, take a look at these recommendations to adjust our usual practice.

Training

All Training courses are suspended until further notice as we currently are unable to host face-to-face meetings due to COVID-19. The County Training team are looking at ways to try and run some of the Modules online using Zoom or Teams. Keep an eye out on the County Website and Leaders Facebook pages for further details.

Coronavirus – How to support someone grieving

The bereavement organisation, https://www.cruse.org.uk/ has a variety variety of resources available for supporting people of all ages with loss, which may become useful as we continue to support our young people and each other during these difficult times.

County Office

The County Office is closed. Cathryn will be working from home during the hours of Monday-Thursday, 9.30am-2.30pm and can be contacted on the usual email address cathryn.atkinson@cycscouts.org.uk. For the time being, there is no telephone number.
