Scouts (10.5-14 years)

If you are aged between 10½ and 14 then Scouts is for you. Scouts aims to build and develop your confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging you to explore your beliefs and attitudes and be creative.

It offers you the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and on international trips. Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects, from community based work to planning games and activities for their meetings.

Scouts work towards their Chief Scout Gold Award by completing 9 Challenge Badges and 6 Activity or Staged Badges of their choice. The Challenge Badges include: Adventure, Creative, Expedition, Outdoors, Skills, World, Personal Challenge, Team Leader and Teamwork Challenge. To find out more about each challenge badge click here.

If that isn’t enough there is also the Yorkshire Challenge to take part in. The award challenges you to camp out in different months of the year and to take on some great challenges.

  • Camp below sea level
  • Camp two metres above the ground
  • Camp on an island
  • Camp above 600m
