Ian Hill, our County Commissioner, has agreed to take on the role of Regional Commissioner for North East England with effect from September this year. In the meantime Sam Morris, Deputy Chief Commissioner for England, will be picking up the mantle as Acting Regional Commissioner, giving Ian the opportunity to finish up his time as our County Commissioner.
As such we are now looking to appoint a new County Commissioner to take over from Ian in September. A search group is in place comprising of volunteers from various roles within the County and we are keen to cast the net wide to find your next County Commissioner.
The County Commissioner role is a key volunteer leadership role for us as Scouts and as such we are keen to receive nominations or applications from individuals who are enthusiastic about providing more opportunities for more young people within Wakefield and Leeds to enjoy the adventure that is Scouting. Central Yorkshire Scouts has seen some incredible success over recent years under Ian’s inspirational leadership, for which we are extremely grateful to Ian.
But we’re not looking for another Ian – we’re looking for someone who will approach the County Commissioner role in their own way and help support everyone in Central Yorkshire Scouts to achieve the very best for all of our young people.
We would urge you to consider who you know who has the time, energy and enthusiasm to work with us to take Central Yorkshire forward as your next County Commissioner and nominate them for consideration.
Ruth Potts, Area Growth & Development Manager, and Sam Morris, Deputy Chief Commissioner of England, is supporting us to lead this process. Ruth and Sam are happy to have a discussion with anyone considering the role and answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your continued commitment to Scouting in Central Yorkshire.
