County Hillwalking Courses 2021

The County Hillwalking Team have scheduled two hillwalking courses and a weekend course for 2021 to support those wishing to gain an activity permit, be assessed for a permit or up-skill themselves in group leadership, navigation including micro-navigation and security on steep ground.

 

The dates are:

 

Hillwalking 1 Saturday 18 September
Hillwalking 2 Sunday 17 October
Hillwalking 3 Friday 19 (Evening) – Sunday 21 November

 

The location for day courses will be dependent on the needs of participants but likely to be Mankinholes, which is above Todmorden, Ilkley Moor, Oxenhope or Crosshills, which are within easy travelling distance and give access to high moorland.

 

The weekend course is based at the Keswick Scout HQ and uses fells near to Thirlmere and Helvellyn. The weekend will cover both training and assessment for group leadership, [micro] navigation and security on steep ground.

 

The cost of the day course is £15pp and the weekend is £15 per day per person.

 

Keswick Scout HQ Hall can be used for overnight accommodation. It has a kitchen, shower, toilet and changing facilities. The cost is £10 pp per night.

Training and assessments are carried out by a friendly and supportive team of assessors who will help you along the pathway to gaining a permit.
