New Appointment – Manager of the Activity Permit Scheme
Ian Chappell
I just wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself as the newly appointed Manager of the Activity Permit Scheme (MAPS).
I would imagine it immediately raises the question, ‘What’s that?’
My main responsibility is to support the County’s Assessors in providing access to the Adventurous Activity Permit Scheme through training and assessment.
Adventurous activities are the bedrock of Scouting, for all young people and adults, and the County Assessors are eager to help you provide such. There is no minimum or maximum age to hold a leadership or supervisory permit so if you have an interest in a particular activity please get in touch.
If you would like to gain an activity permit, if you have a permit that is due to expire or you are a permit holder that would like to up-skill then please get in touch.
Gaining a permit is not an arduous process and there is a clear pathway to doing so, and myself or one of the assessors would be happy to chat with you about this.
Keep an eye out for details of courses scheduled for later in the year, we would be very pleased to see you join us.
Hopefully, as we near the summer period we can access more activities and get our young people engaged with the outdoors again.
