Scouts – Caving Weekend

Between: 8th October 2022 - 9th October 2022 Location: Great Douk & High Douk Pot Holes

To all Scout Leaders

Central Yorkshire will be holding one of its annual caving weekends on the 8th and 9th October 2022 at Great Douk & High Douk Pot Holes. We will be running caving sessions for groups of 6 Scouts starting at 10.00 on Saturday and then 13.00. On the Sunday a 10.00 start and l3.00. We appreciate it may not be possible for Leaders to accompany their Scouts on different caving sessions.  Therefore Central Yorkshire will provide enough trained Leaders and Helpers both male and female, so parents and helpers who do not wish to cave may be used as transport.  Those who do wish to cave however will be more than welcome. Please book along with your Scouts so we can provide the necessary safety equipment (this will not reduce the number of Scouts caving).

Booking   Please e-mail the County Office they will forward them to myself to arrange a time and day then please send a cheque for the full amount (made payable to C.Y.C.S.C) to

Caving is great fun but you will need to bring with you.

Central Yorkshire will provide all cavers with a helmet, light, belt, and a caving over suit, we have suits from junior small to adult XXXL.  As a group you will need to organise your own “in touch” contact, I will organise one for the County team only.

How to get there

Follow the A650 through to Skipton then follow the A65 towards Kendal and the Lakes to Ingleton.  Follow the main street through Ingleton and follow the Hawes road B 6255.  Follow this road up the hill and across the moors until you come to Chapel-Le-Dale. Go past the church on the left and uphill past the Hill Inn just past the pub look for a Scout sign on the right.  Park in the field as near as possible to the track to prevent damage to the field as we have special permission to use this field for this weekend only and is not a permanent car park.  We will meet you on the field
