Aldwark Scout Centre

One of Yorkshire’s premier water activity and outdoor education centres, Aldwark specialises in offering high quality tuition and accommodation. Owned and managed by Central Yorkshire Scouts, Aldwark regularly welcomes parties from the Central Yorkshire area, plus other Scout and uniformed organisations travelling from further afield.

We are proud that Aldwark is a centre of training excellence with frequently assessed, highly qualified volunteer instructors providing quality tuition for activities.

The Mill Accommodation

Our refurbished Mill is one of the focal points of Aldwark Water Activity centre.
Boasting sleeping accommodation for 58 people! The building also houses a full kitchen, and indoor spaces for groups to utilise during their stays with us. We also are able to hire these spaces out for groups that are camping to use if they require the indoor space.

Dormitories
The sleeping accommodation is split between two dormitory style sleeping quarters, The Main Dormitory and the Cloth Workers Wing. The Main Dormitory boasts 26 beds with a further two beds for adults in an adjacent room. Whilst the Cloth Workers Wing has one 20 bed dormitory, two 4 bed rooms and one 2 bed room. These various size rooms offer lots of options for groups of all shapes and sizes coming to stay with us. The all rooms have bunk beds with mattresses, however groups are asked to bring their own sleeping bags and pillows!

The Galley (Kitchen)
The Galley comes complete with a large oven, hot cupboard, refrigerator and separate upright freezer. The Galley offers spacious cooking facilities for 58 people and a dining area big enough to serve them in one sitting. All equipment is provided in the kitchen to help you prepare the days meals!

The Cahill Room (Indoor Space within the Mill Building)
A place of serenity, relaxation and recreation after the hectic excitement of a day on the water. The Cahill Room offers a quiet area for discussion, study or reading in comfortable surroundings. A television and DVD player are available to all visitors, whether you want to hold a training session or simply chill out after a fun filled day!

Activity Room (Indoor Space within the Mill Building)
A place that is easily accessible from the car park without having to use the main Mill entrance door, the activity room is a great space for groups to use to congregate for indoor craft activities, leaders meetings, and training.

Camping
As well as the The Mill we also offer camping to our visitors the opportunity to camp at the side of the River Ure. Our camping field stretches over two large fields adjacent to the river with room for over 300 campers! Bring your tent, pitch up and enjoy a weekend on the water in tranquil* surroundings.
