Silly Chilly Challenge 2025
Initial info for Scout section team members
What: The return of Silly Chilly Challenge, a winter activity weekend for the Scout section from Central Yorkshire Scouts. A chance to take part in craft and adventurous activities (all very loosely themed around a space/sci-fi theme) and a chance to tick off not one but two Yorkshire Challenge Months.
When: Friday 31st January – Sunday 2nd February 2025
Where: Bramhope Scout Campsite and Activity Centre
Cost: £52 for Scouts (inc. Catering)
£12/leader and young leaders to cover catering costs (young leaders will not take part in activities)
Event includes: Two activity sessions on Saturday, including Bramhope’s adventurous activities, external activities and activities provided by groups; silent disco; silent film night (with a choice of films); activity morning on Otley Chevin; campfire; quizzes and scavenger hunt; a toasty warm marquee to warm up(!); an interactive points system throughout the event; quiet space; and other activities to be confirmed
What we need:
- Dining – In keeping with other Silly Chilly Challenges, we ask if groups can bring any benches and tables to keep our costs as low as possible for young people
- During the Saturday sessions, we would like groups where possible to provide a craft or activity to supplement the centrally run activities – please speak to your ADC (Scouts) / Programme Teams for further details – a loose space theme would be great but by no means essential – don’t let the theme get in the way of a good idea!
- During Saturday evening we need table top style activities to run an activity bazaar in the marquee – again please speak to ADCs / Programme Teams
Next Steps:
- Leaders will receive an access code for the booking system through their District contact https://sc25.scout-event-registration.co.uk/
- Please can section leaders register their interest by 8 November with indications of likely numbers – there is a short guidance video available here
- Final numbers for Sunday 22nd December
Can you help?
- In addition to Scout section leaders, we would value those who can support through the event – call in that favour with the Cub leaders or that parent who seems keen. Areas where we could always use an extra pair of hands include:
- Setting up and take down support
- Supporting the traffic management team
- Supporting the catering team
- Activity support (perhaps you can rope in someone to even run your group activity!)
- Activity permit holders
