Carol Milburn – County Lead Volunteer
Here we are in April already. Easter is past and the days are lengthening…and some of them are even feeling warm! Watch out for the occasional cold snap……make sure you are prepared and have a jumper and coat to hand.
We are ready for the new season at Aldwark and our new toilets and showers have officially opened. We had a gathering of friends old and new at the site on the crew training weekend on the 28th March, with tea, coffee, cakes and chatting. Thank you to all those who have worked so hard to see the project to its completion. We now need to continue the good work and update the rooms in the mill…watch this space!! There are a select few sessions remaining this season if you want to paddle and use the new facilities. Contact Angie Fowley our booking contact for more details.
Our Jamboree Contingent – The ‘Yorkie Storkies’ held their first weekend away at Bradley Wood, on the same weekend. Watch out for them around the County as they embark on their Fundraising Journey for their trip to Poland in 2027. We enjoyed a delicious Polish dish for tea with them specially prepared and served by the cooking team.
The same weekend on Sunday 29th March our Squirrels celebrated their 5th Birthday with an ‘Earth Tribe Day’ at Bramhope exploring all things environmental. They had a fantastic, albeit very cold, day having fun with their friends. They had a Birthday celebration at lunchtime with a cake and finished off their day with a campfire. They took home party bags with little cakes and badges celebrating their day.
The countdown is on for ‘Challenge 26’ @ Bramham Park 10th- 12th July. Make sure that you get your booking in and confirmed by the closing date May 15th. Hopefully I will see you there for more fun and Challenges
Happy Scouting
Carol
