Carol Milburn – County Lead Volunteer
What a fantastic time we have had this summer. We started with a brilliant evening at Junior Warrior. The evening was perfect not too hot nor too cold, in fact a lovely summer evening. Some of our young people had already run the course earlier in the day with their school friends…..that shows stamina, commitment and just how much they enjoy the event.
This was closely followed by our amazing Challenge 26 which was topped off with watching England play in the World Cup Quarter Final on the big screen with well over 3,000 Scouting friends. What memories those present will have in such a wonderful atmosphere. A Huge ’Thank You’ to Richard Trout from North Leeds who made this possible at such short notice. Our closing ceremony was very special with our Chief Scout, Dwayne Fields, thanking everyone for all that we do to ensure that our Young People have the best fun ever.
Thank you to everyone who played their part to make the weekend so special. The team who spent the week before and the week after building and taking apart the event so that the only thing left at Bramham Park were the memories. Special thanks must go to James Nehaul and all the management team who have worked tirelessly for well over 2 years to make sure everything went to plan.
I hope that everyone enjoys their summer whatever they are doing, participating in Scouting activities and camps or relaxing to ensure that they are ready for the adventure and challenge to continue when the new term starts in September. Lots of the Challenge Team have been supporting ‘Poacher’ an annual event run by Lincolnshire Scouts……..they are truly committed to providing activities, adventure, challenge and fun for all our Young People.
Thank you to everyone across the County for all that you do. Thank you for the support that you have given me in my time as CLV in Central Yorkshire. A warm welcome to Adrian Cooper, presently DLV in Wakefield District, who takes on the CLV role in September.
I am sure that I will see many of you around at lots of events in the future. Keep on having Fun, Challenge and Adventure and find your ‘Place to Belong’!
Take care
Carol
